Urgent: Transworld mares and youngstock

This has been such an emotional read. What a great community this is.

I am so thrilled these horses were saved. I only wish the two little ones the vet took could have been too. A Christmas miracle on COTH.
I believe we have everyone–17 horses were sent to the sale:

The stallion who I have
7 purchased privately through the ring
9 purchased from the lot

Fred, you have a PM.

The vet has to reschedule for Fellow today due to weather. Few more days before we have news on him.

Can you PM me the Paypal info please?

Can someone send me the info too? Epona, you’re a frickin’ Saint! And jingles for Fellow…

SonnysMom and Timex- I sent you Epona’s email for Paypal. Thank You both for contributing. I’m sure Epona can use every little bit.

This has to be a daunting effort for her.

What an act of courage to keep going for all of those horses …

And it has surely only just begun. Given the references to quite a few adult horses with no basic training … not to mention the usual vet and farrier needs of horses coming from such situations … this has been a monumental first step in a long journey, I’m sure.

I’ll take that Paypal address as well.

You have a PM OaO!

I think it extends so far past the training, too. We’re talking no vaccines, never been wormed, have never had their teeth done. No farrier care. I think feet, for the most part, are okay (they’ve been running on acreage) but the rest? And the training, too? It’s a big task.

Just looking at the list from the sale, only two that went to the kill buyer were little enough to sell by the head–babies. The other 7 were big enough to sell by the pound, and the lightest there is nearly 700 lbs.

I heard that some seem personable (a lady who looked at the gelding dubbed ā€œFoggyā€ said he led, picked up his feet, let her look in his mouth) so hopefully not all are untouched. Fingers crossed!

In some ways, it is easier to start with a blank slate than to have to undo bad training. So I hope people are not put off by their ā€œhome on the rangeā€ experiences.

I’m nearby too. Please let me know if I can help in anyway. I could possibly foster 1 once they’re out of QT

Froggy looked like he was seeking human interaction and I really hope he’s the good boy he looked to be in the pictures. I try to not get emotionally attached to kill pen photos, but he did it for me.

Does EponaCL have Froggy?

Last I heard, Frog went to a h/j barn. I don’t think that happened off the lot–I think Epona played a part there–but I don’t know for sure what the details are.

He is adorable and the lady I know who works with the group that lists the horses off the lot thought he was just a doll. He was super curious and followed her everywhere. Definitely a horse looking for a person.

From all accounts, Fellow is the same way. His personality has certainly exceeded all of MY expectations for an essentially unhandled ā€œrange stallion.ā€ Anyone on the fence about a youngster here should get with Epona and sign up…temperament seems to be outstanding, and consistent

I am tired and have fought a big snowstorm all day so this is going to be short. for all the people who have contributed a huge thank you. There is a lot more needed for the purchases and the training and so forth to come but we got them all. I put them all on a credit card so we can get them paid off gradually without starving. Froggy was not a member of the group but he was bought sunday night by a h/j barn. He was delightful. He was probably an appendix quarter horse. the others are almost all two or under except for the one out of the bay mare, and I have not learned the birth date on those two. Transrama, who I bought at the sale, has made huge turnaround in five days. Catch her, blanket her, pick up her feet and gained at least 25 lbs or more, probably ofwater. She was starving and seriously dehydrated. Now that she is being treated like a princess she has started acting like one most of the time.Tried to bite two or three times because she is still food aggressive but no kicking. I have had several conversations with the breeders and they agreeing to be totally cooperative in getting the babies registered and giving birthdates and identifying the individuals as to mamas and years of birth.the rescue had most of it all mixed up. So far no signs of disease and except for Transrama, the one I bought at the auctiion, they are all fat and sassy. And most of them are very correct and good looking. We have 4 broodmares including Transrama, Winning Spin, wishyouwereme, the unregistered bay mare who is a full sister to Frauline on pedigree query. She looks to be about a month from foaling but who knows. They are all smart all good looking, some really beautiful. Everyone was pooh-poohing the lion story but apparently it is true. the next door neighbor used to have a huge herd of buffalos which were underfed and easy prey so the mountain lions had moved in down the creek on the property. When the neighbor died and the herd sold the lions moved to the local livestock and Killed their mare Indian Girl in Sept and attacked Precisely Nicely. I suspect he killed or seriously damaged the lion because he only had the one long mark on his ribs behind the girth area. He was bought for hunter jumper barn. Who knew they came that far out on the plains. We had a huge snow storm today and another forecast for Thurs. So the training will be delayed. I talked to my vet today because I had to cancel her visit and she is optimistic about the vaccines and told me how to start them on deworming before they can be caught. She is an eventer herself. If weather permits we can start looking over and working with some of the babies and the broodmares. Now that i know about the mountain lions I can understand some of there edginess, The old mare calmed down a lot in just couple of days. I personally have owned at least 10 of the sons and daughters of Transworld and of course met others. They are smart and sensible and want to be part of the program. They aren’t deadheads but they are personable and some are just plain pets. I never start mine until they are three and some of these are going through that two yr old ugly stage but are still good looking. Some of them could possibly onto a hunter breeding class but but none of them are extremely tall. I would guess the tallest one would mature 16-16.1. there are only two maybe three boys. We have one mystery one that was never posted on the rescue site and i have no idea yet who it is, what age or sex. But we will figure it out in a few days. Thanks again for the support and kind words. I will h ave more information as i get it.

Epona, you are an angel!

As are the others who have stepped up to help save these horses.

Please send me your PayPal info. I can’t take any of the horses, but I can kick in something to help with your expenses.

So how many horses were there in total? Are they all safe now?

Awesome, EponaCL. Thanks for the update.

this is going to be short
:lol: yep that was short for her! We both come from the old like to write generation. You know folks that used to write real letters and put our thoughts together with written words. And we’re both information junkies and shared our finds.

Great job, glad that you came here for friendship and support. The other day, in the middle of all this, I get an Xmas card from her in my mail!

I finally got the Facebook rescue page to open, gah, dealing with a new phone.

Cherry Cola is gorgeous! Santa baby won’t you put her in my stocking?

I think EponaCl (and Simkie) has done an outstanding job of saving this stock and the work
is still ongoing, trying to get some basic training on them and then finding long term homes for them.

She has shared via PM that she’s close to $7,000 in the hole just for the purchases of I believe 9 horses.

Please continue to support her with any dribbles that you can afford. I’m hoping that in the end she’s not left holding the bag for this good hearted
save.

And thanks to Simkie for bringing this plight to our attention.

thanks to all for your continued help. Please keep the donations coming.

paypal send as gift not as payment

OK getting ready to send my dribble now.
DON’T FORGET, AS WE LEARNED WITH ALWAYS FUNNY’S RESCUE, TO SEND IT AS GIFT NOT AS PAYMENT SO THAT NO FEE WILL BE TAKEN OUT OF THE MONEY.

Epona, I know you are busy, but if you could just tell me by PM or by email if you receive it. And do not thank me, we all need to thank you and sickie and those who did all the work and rescue.

Thanks to those who sent me the paypal addy.
And can someone repost the FB page, if those of us not on FB can view it? TIA.

Simkie, thanks …autocorrect got me above

I just wanted to say that someone posted a photo of 2 chestnut mares with large blazes on Facebook, and said they were part of this lot. The mares are lovely with intelligent, inquisitive eyes. I’m so glad they were saved! Thank you to everyone involved.

Could I get the paypal info as well?
