Wake Forest Claimed for $8000

Me, too, and I once owned an OTTB (Arbor Gate, by Apalachee, out of Look To Me. Originally registered as Apalookee, but somebody changed his name). There. I think I’ve just put more “racing information” out there than PB.

That what the BloodHorse article says.

Well that’s very nice. He’ll be very happy there, I’m sure.

Too bad a sporthorse breeder isn’t interested. He looks like a nice horse.

This may be the first time I ever actually LOLed before typing LOL.

Nope, just the difference between success and failure. So how is that filly you bought at the sale? Were you able to get her to the races? There’s a bit of a horse shortage and we need to get more of these maiden races to go.

Me too

You are a piece of…work. Until you have the balls to put your record up for review your opinion is invalid. Go back under your bridge.

Wow, Palm Beach, nice attempt at trying to deflect. Xctrygirl has always been open on who she is and her past experience with TBs in the racing world. Unlike you, she has no issue with posting information on decisions both good and bad on her horses. I remember how much you snottily denigrated her choice to buy that filly and gee, how surprising you feel like you have the authority to rub it in now. Funny how it just further goes to prove you have zero reputation in the TB industry. When have you ever put yourself out there, in public, to be judged on your reputation?

LaurieB, Gumtree, Laurierace, Xctrygirl and others on here are the real deal. If you’re so proud of your superior knowledge and experience , why are you so reluctant to reveal your actual credentials?

I freely admit I’m no one in the racing industry. I started babies on a private farm eons ago. But I know enough to recognize people who truly have the experience of living and working in the racing world.

I read this earlier, and sat on my hands.

“We” need to see more maiden races go? As in something you are a part of? How so?

Attacking someone who has been open and kind, and shared her REAL, ACTUAL, MONEY where her MOUTH is experiences is a special kind of vile. Especially when, to the lot of us here (I include myself, and my minor experience in the TB racehorse world) you have shown nothing, zilch, nada, to be worthy of even the mere thought of judging someone like Em.

Seriously.

Nope, I don’t care who buys what. However, I did not support the decision to attempt to race the horse since the horse had no pedigree and the connections did not have much experience wrt actually conditioning a race horse.

Haven’t we been around this loop before? So what horses have you purchased, conditioned and raced and what were their successes? I don’t give a rat’s patooty where you live or how much you’re worth. What are your actual successes?

Frankly, many of us might look at another’s purchase and perhaps question the wisdom but then again… look at some the of top horses in recent generations… Seattle Slew (purchased for $17,500) and California Chrome come to mind. What did you think about the wisdom of those purchases until the horse proved the nay sayers wrong and wrote their names in the record book???

Must be so nice to sit on your perfect pedestal and judge.

And again, you were wrong. You made assumptions on the situation based out of ignorance. Because as I stated in that thread at the time, the “connections” included a licensed exercise rider/assistant trainer/licensed NSA trainer.

Things didn’t work out. The horse was injured in training IIRC. Anyone who has been around horses for 5 minutes understands hopes and dreams can be shattered in the blink of an eye, regardless of pedigree of the animal or experience of the handlers.

From your posts, it is clear that you have experience. Yet no one respects your experience because you only contribute condescension with nothing tangible to back up your opinions. You supposedly have this fantasy backyard stable of racehorses and western pleasure horses who never lose, because you do everything right. But when anyone asks for the slightest elaboration on how you achieve such success, we get nothing.

No one cares about your name, your address, your tax returns, etc. We are asking you to back up your supposed success with something other than bad manners. Horses can be a thankless and heartbreaking industry, as I’m sure you know. Anyone who has found the panacea to legally and ethically win consistently while completely canceling the effects of bad luck would revolutionize our sport. It would not go unnoticed. Whether you realize it or not, you project yourself as this person, yet with no credentials to support your claims. “We” find that highly suspicious. Especially when no such person exists in horse racing, where this type of information is public record.

It is the easiest thing to anonymously criticize someone else’s operation. It’s part of the reason I haven’t shared specifics (although the other part is that I have/had active claiming horses).

I’m going to guess that it is likely Palm Beach isn’t more forthcoming because s/he is concerned about being critiqued by someone like, well, Palm Beach. I guess that’s valid but then why share something like a win percentage with no proof or context. Ten years ago when I campaigned my first race horse, I had run in three races and won 1. I guess that would give me a 33% win rate at the time but what a meaningless stat. I believe that I have gotten a lot better at this but I haven’t maintained that win percentage. Few do over the long haul.

Ok Ms. High and Mighty lets talk…

First, as others have mentioned, you feel confident in belittling me with no share of your credentials. So let me be ultra clear about this. Instead of hiding my choices (Good and Bad) I long ago decided to be forthright and be able to sleep at night.

“Rocket” is a lovely mare with a not very commercial pedigree. She has strengths and weaknesses the same as me and you. She went from my trainer to a different trainer I was recommended based at the track to get her gate card and had issues, specifically she got sore shins. The good news was that they didn’t need much time. She was fine in a matter of 60 days but after some serious trust issues with the trainer at Penn and the lack of a gate card I chose not to pursue racing her. That said I worked to get her a secure future. I sold her back to her breeder and he has campaigned her. With a trainer that has FAR better credentials than me and my trainer and whose record should be “acceptable” to your statistics driven mind. And she’s done next to nothing. You can see her page here.

http://www.equibase.com/profiles/Results.cfm?type=Horse&refno=9494465&registry=T

She then had a chip in her knee. They have removed it and she is currently training at CT again.

So you can fault me all you want but her breeder is the one who took the chance on asking the mare to run. I still think she would have been far better at steeplechase meets as she got better on turf at 3 miles +.

So one of these days lets see if you ever have the size juevos, cojohnes, whatever you’d like to call it, to stand up with OUR level and talk about a real animal that you tried to do your best for, REGARDLESS OF STATISTICS.

I really feel like your a ‘syndicate partner’ in one of those 300+ people owning one Maiden 5k claimers.

And for sure I doubt you’ve regularly galloped more than one Graded Stakes horse. Let alone many of them, like I have.

But hey keep on bashing. I’m still here. And I’m having a banner year with my personal horses. Just not in racing.

Em

I don’t share identifying information online except for facebook, but even then I am ultra careful about sharing where I am at the time due to a past break in. I am not part of the “look at me” culture. I do value my privacy, and I have had people just “drop by” despite being barely acquainted with me and with me being somewhat out in the sticks.

Who quoted who first in this thread? If you can’t take the heat, stay out of the kitchen. And if you can’t hang then by all means stay on the porch.

Wake Forest has arrived at Old Friends.

Certainly your right to be as private as you like. Don’t then get snarky with people who question your experience and credentials.

Others here don’t really go out of their way to maintain privacy but have shared their knowledge and experience including actual, verifiable facts.

Just as you want your privacy, I don’t trust the validity of what someone says just based on their personal pat on their back.
