Oh how lucky you found her! She’s beautiful.
So we don’t have cats, can’t have cats because of the dogs, don’t really want cats.
Well this guy befriended my husband, not at the house but at his place of work. The environment is heavy industrial in the city of Chicago. Not a good place for a little kitty, and especially one who isn’t really feral anymore.
So, we busted him out. DHs sister is very involved with ferals and rescue, and hooked us up. He is now neutered, vaccinated, dewormed, and headed to a new home.
We called him Tito the Cheeto. Good luck, little cutie!
Aww…Tito is adorable! That first photo so much reminds me of my Spy.
Thank you for taking care of this little one. I hope he goes to a wonderful new home.
Us too! My husband is very attached to him, so we are Plan B should the home not work out. Not sure how we’d do it exactly, but we will figure it out should the need be.
Some dogs know ‘cat.’ Some do not. Just tread carefully if you end up keeping him. Tater (cat) loves Sam, (dog), but Sam is fond of the cats, but doen’t love them. I do however trust Sam to never go after them. Growing up, we always had both and while not best buds, they liked each other and got along.
Cats are a joy, (most of the time!)
Cats are awesome! When I hear someone say they don’t like cats I have to fight myself not to give them a snarly face
I’m not a “cat person,” but I’m not mean to any living thing lol. @Larksmom our dogs think cats are SUPER COOL and they are hunting dogs so way too much drive to learn when enough is enough. They haven’t killed a cat despite having a chance or two, but the surely don’t make the kitties feel all warm and fuzzy inside.
Since Tito the Cheeto is so friendly, we thought it best he not come here. Poor dude wouldn’t be able to hang out except in the barn, because the dogs have their doggy door and rule the back yard.
Did Spy keep that adorable white around the eyes and muzzle they both share? It’s like white highlighter!
I’m not sure if you can tell here or not. We lost him as a five-year-old. He ended up getting Bobcat fever. I miss that boy. He was the sweetest cat! I’ve lost all my cats within a short period of time. That’s why I love this thread. I live vicariously through you all!
It’s not as pronounced as it is on them as kittens, but you can still see it. I’m sorry that you lost him so soon, he looks like he was a character.
aww thanks you to Mr.Endless for stepping in and giving Tito the Cheeto a chance at a better life! He is an adorable little nugget.
If Tito fails his re-home he might be a very happy barncat.
IIRC, your barn has a loft, but even if it doesn’t, a barncat is a Master of finding safe spots.
My own little 8# Verminator lived happily in my barn for 10yrs. No loft, but she’d hole up in the stacked hay (300+ small squares on pallets). Sometimes preferring that over the fleece house, raised well off the ground that I provided.
She’d come up to the house to get me, but had zero interest in coming in.
I planned on taking her inside when she aged, but she had a stroke at 10 took that choice from me. At least she was in the barn, so she didn’t just disappear.
We have coyotes & raccoons, both dangers to cats. I’ve seen the coyotes in my pastures & had coons inside the barn.
Used to be a big yellow mongrel that owners let run free, who came on my property, barked at horses & once caught but didn’t kill a hen.
I haven’t seen him for quite a while.
I had a very nice conversation with Bowser while I was waiting to get my hair cut, who is the honorary shop cat at the hair salon. He actually belongs to the grooming salon 2 doors down but likes to spend his day with people instead of barking dogs.
He was sound asleep with all the noise and activity around him, completely unfazed by any of it. He was so deep into his nap when he woke up there was drool on his chair.
I’m always impressed when I meet confident cats like him, who don’t mind noise or meeting new people. All of my cats have all been giant chickens and would have been horrified if they were in that situation.
Bowser was super friendly and immediately flipped right over to make sure I gave him enough scratches on his chin and neck. Very handsome (and big) boy.
I’m surprised a former feral is that laid back. My old man-cat would drool when sleeping, then he’d wake up and want to rub his wet chin on me.
Okay, so I feel like I’m crashing the cat party lately with all my previous cats. But the photo of Bowser reminds me of Flynny, my last kitty. He was feral, yet acclimated to life as my buddy fairly quickly. His favorite place was on my lap (as noticed by the many blanket photos, haha). I will say, he wasn’t ever a fan of being picked up, though. But let him come to you, and he was happy and content!
There was a nursing home with a cat called Oscar that would lay with a resident when they were passing away. I had an Oscar and someone asked me if I was afraid my Oscar would do the same. I said no. He would be doing CPR on me afraid of missing a meal. Oscar is gone now be he was a character…insistent his chunkiness fit in that cat bed .
I’m not sure what Flynny is thinking in the book picture but it can’t be good. What a handsome and sweet laddy.
We have DETENTE!
Bounce has agreed Milo may get on the couch.
Preferably while I’m acting as Cat Furniture & not too close.
But compared to the Get Off My Lawn hysteria, this is positively Peacable Kingdom

I think this guy and his old cat are adorable. He’s wrapped him up in a long scarf before, but I love this kangaroo pouch. Now I want a cat to put in it.
Edit - oops, it’s not a him, it’s a her. Sorry kitty girl!
