Maybe I’m being too harsh but I was shocked that Jordan made it into the test to begin with. I had her 4th.
Because it’s pouring and storming. Weather has been off and on all day. Wasn’t exactly an evening to be outside.
U.S. riders are 1st (Ward), 3rd (Farrington) and 4th (N.Dean) in the WEF 5* GP.
All Saturday Nights and many mid week jumper classes have been free, no USEF membership necessary.
I thought that people watching the Equitation at the WEC might like an update on the G.P. at W.E.F. nothing more than that.
You said WEF would be available for USEF subscribers, I pointed out no USEF membership required.
I see. I was referring to the USEF Network/CMH website.
I was actually watching the WEC class in person and watching the WEF class on my phone at the same time. Because horse people are crazy. Lol.
McLain was super in the jump off in Wellington! Good for him.
Who did the online commentary tonight at WEC?
Rachel Kennedy and Mary Lisa Leffler
Thanks.
Has anyone come across a video online of the test?
Or even just the winner doing the test?
It’s up on ClipMyHorse. The entire first and second rounds along with the test.
The description of all four riders’ tests as “solid” is… incredibly generous. Otherwise, nice article!
Thanks!!
Still no video of the test in the article.
It wouldn’t surprise me if an effort is being made to sweep that final test under the rug. It was about as poorly executed across the board as any test I’ve seen at an Eq final.
There was also some discussion about the test being altered on the fly when the decision was made to run indoors due to weather. I imagine that played a role in what we saw.
I just wish I could find a video of the test online. I tried to explain it to a friend of mine, but words don’t really do it justice. Lol.
I’m not willing to subscribe to ClipMyHorse just to see that one minute video.
I was sitting in the stands watching this class. My opinion: the judges were probably regretting that test. Jumping into a 3’6" five stride line- oxer in and then expecting a smooth halt and Then cantering out the line- well, that wasn’t such a great idea. The riders needed more strides to get that done smoothly. Trot out, yes. Canter out, no. That rattled everyone. Following that part, the riders counter cantered into a line. Many chose an inside track which slowed them way down. One rider had a stop when the horse didn’t get out that (maybe 4 stride?) line. It was just a mess. The last rider almost got a standing ovation for getting the job done and the crowd was begging her not to forget the halt! Your heard, “Halt! Halt!” from the stands.
The riders all looked like really good sports. It was a fun class to watch.
