Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show On Tonight!
S1969, is Andrea Jordan still in Brittanys? She might have a different last name now–she was married to Dennis Jordan and they had Jordean. I worked for Dennis as a teenager…Ollie and I were buddies, way back when. Always loved seeing Dennis in his tux on TV at the Garden!
I’m not sure. I know she was working for the AKC for some time and I think she left; so while she was working there she probably couldn’t show her own dogs. I do know she has a Papillon because my breeder has told me; she now has two paps herself!! I will ask my breeder - they are good friends.

I never met Ollie but of course have seen lots of pictures and heard all about him. My dog has him on both sides - he is a Great Grandpa to both his dam and his sire…and a fair smattering of Jordean blood throughout his 5 generation pedigree. They had a lot of great dogs!

I always wondered what happened to her after Dennis died. I hope she’s doing well, and I’m glad to hear she’s still in dogs.

Jordean certainly seemed to have an impact on the breed! I wish I could find a list of historical BOB winners for Westminster…I remember Dennis there year after year. I thought your guy might have that breeding–they all seem to have a certain color and shape to the head that you just didn’t used to see except in Jordean bred dogs.

liked the irish setter and the boykin so far tonight.

Did I really hear the announcer say the English Cocker Spaniel entrant’s favorite food was KFC?

Good picks!! I had 2 of the 4 to place in the group, but missed the Irish. I had him as making the cut but not placing; same with the Water Spaniel. But I had the ESS & Wirehair…loved that Wirehair!!

And I liked the Boykin. Sad he(she?) didn’t make the cut because I had him on my list.

Woo-hoo! Irish won the group! Go Emily!

Peke’s going all the way, you just wait…

Personally, I love the Old English, Cavalier King Charles, Sussex and Clumber Spaniels (yes, I realize two of those are toy breeds.) I loved Stump back when he was competing before he got sick and retired and he is my FAVORITE WKC winner ever. (So what do I have? A mixed breed and a second-hand Pembroke.)

What do you think of the Purina ad?

Do you really think the last 5 winners of the Bis feed that stuff?

wooohooo!!! go Doberman!!!

to bad that the German Shorthaired didn’t make it

Oh that Dobe’s gonna be hard to beat!

vtdobes must be on cloud nine!

Congrats Dobe fans!!

I stink at picking for the working group…had the boxer and the samoyed in the cut but missed pretty much all the rest. Loved the doberman though! I liked the German Pinscher too. But I will admit I don’t really know any of the breed standards for this group so I’m just going with the crowd tonight…

THRILLED to see that gorgeous Dobie win the group–what an exquisite looking dog (in addition to being an athlete, in top condition. The Boxer was also fantastic.)

This is what should tip the scales, IMHO (though I am a sucker for a “dog shaped dog” without a lot of excess hair, you can SEE the movement and musculature.)

If the Peke wins BIS , there will be a lot of aggrieved screeching and excess wine drinking…And I HAD cut myself off for the night!

I am curious about that too.

Better than Pedigree…not a bad food and if you’re feeding multiple dogs it’s a lot cheaper as a base food than the “premium” foods. (And I always remind myself, left to their own devices dogs eat their own excrement. They’re not selective eaters.)

I second that. That was/is one kick-ass good looking Doberman. Far nicer than many that have appeared at Westminster in the past.

If I could do handstands - I’ll be doing that if that Doberman wins BIS.

I have no idea, but I have gotten pet quality puppies from breeders who have shown dogs at Westminister. One fed Purina, one fed Eukanuba, so I wouldn’t be surprised at all.

I wouldn’t be surprised. They (dog food companies) often hold nutrition seminars at dog shows, and usually offer wholesale prices if you buy it from the truck at the show.

My breeder feeds Eukanuba (and recommends that her puppies are fed Eukanuba) but I know she’s attended the Pro Plan seminars.

Lord, do I agree with you on that. Although I preferred the Husky over the Boxer. Last year’s Boxer was much nicer.

Peke Peke Peke Peke…only breed where I tolerate the pushed-in face. The ones I really hate are the ugly monkey faces and the pop eyes (I was very happy the English Toy seemed to be going for more of a pointed look) and ugly apple heads (okay, Chins are kind of cute but Chihuahuas are hideous little rats, especially the smooth coats.)

Bedlington’s a local dog (for my parents’ anyway) so go Bedlington! As my favorites (Glen of Imaal, Dandie, Scottie, and Westie) probably won’t win.
