What's the deal with "unapproved" posts?

the auto tagging of accounts should also look at the age of the account, some one who has been here ten years surely is not a source that should be getting hit with “unapproved”

while they are doing that… make any new account have a requirement of age and number of posts before they can attach a linked comment

I had my first ever “unapproved” post today. and it was just about my farm and used pictures that are already in the COTH system so not outside links. Not a link in it. I hope this problem doesn’t get worse with the new changes!

@Moderator1

Checking to see if this test post will be flagged as unapproved.

I had an unapproved post with 0 photos and links

It went unapproved when I edited a spelling mistake.

Hours later I just copied it, reposted it and deleted the unapproved post.

We are all doing that.

When editing, some times a programming glitch has been sending posts to unapproved
They are working on it along with several other glitches.
I have quit editing, leave mistakes and autocorrect blunders out there, unless they change the meaning too much.

I just tried it and it changed pist to post and worked.

If that glitch happened all the time, they could find and fix it asap.

Since it is at random, it is much harder to flush out.

I’ve had that edit unapproved glitch, too. Quick work around is to copy the unapproved post and repost–mine went right through, no issues. Then delete the copy that’s stuck.

It is AWESOME that we can still see the unapproved post, yay! Before it would just disappear into the ether…

That’s good to know that you can see the posts that are stuck!

I let the developers know earlier that the spam filter seemed touchy, particularly with edited posts, but I’ll check that it’s still on the list. We’ve actually been really light on actually spam so far, so that’s a plus, even though a lot of it doesn’t make it through the filter onto the live site normally.

Mine just got flagged as spam when I edited it. Should I delete and re-post?

ETA: I can’t even delete it.

Yes, that exact thing happened to me late last night. I edited a post because I noted a spelling error, and the system thought it was spam.

@Moderator 1

”‹”‹”‹”‹”‹”‹”‹Post #74 in the Where did you get your houseplants topic in Off Topic (?) got ‘unapproved’ after I edited it in quick succession 3 or 4 times to fix the post when my text kept getting replaced by a smiley.

Yep…I just had to do this too!

Hmm, I had this happen too - fixed a spelling error and went to spam!

I don’t know if this is a setting available to the tech team - but my experience with spammers is that they’re not patient people. That is, longtime accounts don’t go bad and turn to a life of spam. It might make everything easier if you have the option to not do spam checks on accounts that have already made say 20 non-flagged posts.

Has happened repeatedly to me also

I added more info to the report of this issue, so we’ll see what they can do. Thanks!

Just did it to me in Current Events.

I corrected a couple of typos and it went from approved to unapproved.

Benn there, done that :frowning:

as others have noted, copy your unapproved post and repost…

Just tried that…still stuck in unapproved purgatory! Plus it has typos…sigh…

It just worked for me?

Posts seem to get unapproved if edited only.
Not all the time, not always as first editing, but when repeat editing.

Copy the stuck post where it is stuck, in that greenish window.

Open new posting window and paste.
Make all your edits now, before posting.
Post and check it posted as a new post in the thread you are posting.

Then go to unapproved post and edit and delete and it goes poof.

Try it again, it may work this time?
