I am unapproved today, for the first time. Can’t post anything although I could earlier this morning. And I didn’t try to include any links so that is not the problem.
It happens to me every time the techs clean out the spam posts. For some reason I have something lurking in my profile that is like spammers so when COTH cleans all the boards I get unapproved. It gets fixed but happens over and over.
Thanks for posting this here, so others will be warned.
Have you also PM the Moderator, so that can be addressed directly and quickly?
Bluey, I did PM the Mods but I got an “unapproved” message each time I tried to send a PM to the Mods too. 
Apparently the mods do oversee the unapproved posts though and once they saw my problem it was approved very promptly. So far I haven’t had a problem since then.
Oh, good it is solved, was going to PM them myself if you were having problems doing that also.
Crazy ways those things work, do they.

Huh, didn’t see an “unapproved” message with the last test, but the post did not appear either so clearing my account is still broken…
I’m still having issues, it’s never been permanently fixed what ever it is in my profile. It’s a pita for sure.

Ever hopeful that the problem may get fixed, I have come back to make another test post!
@DawnJL I sent another inquiry to the developers to see why you’re having this persistent issue. It seems like it must be related to your IP address or SOMETHING, but for the life of me, I can’t figure it out on my end.

@js We get spam posts every day, so your problems aren’t directly related to the appearance of any spam, but it could be related to some particular spam, perhaps a similar host that your posts are routed through…

I don’t post much to chat, I take the time, a far bit at times to pass on a LOT of information/knowledge that I have learned over the years. Things/advise that people have paid me well for for over the years.
Yesterday morning in the Racing thread there was post asking about horses and taxes. I took a lot of time to give a fair bit of detail. Not details that I have read about by and large. Details that I know about because the business of horses is what how I have made my living for 40 years. Yes, I gave link, a link to the National Thoroughbred Racing Association’s (NTRA) Tax center page.
It was flagged unapproved. And still has not been approved. There were plenty of other posts that had links and didn’t get flagged.
Ever since the Chronicle redesigned the platform there has been TONS of issues. I have been willing to put of with the nonsense because I understand these things don’t always work well right out of the box. But plenty of time has gone by since it was launched. Tired of pages constantly freezing, taking forever to load at times, or just “time out” and go blank. Detailed posts that just disappeared before I am finished writing. I learned to copy just in case. I have backed off spending time around here. Cut back on my posting due to frustration. I get a lot of compliments and thank yous from people saying how much they appreciate the time I put into my comments, posts. I am a decent writer, at least thats what a lot of people tell me, here and other forums. Been told I should be paid, lol.
In short a lot of people come here to read well written comments, opinions, the real facts of life based on real life experience. As popular as this forum is I would like to think it brings in good advertising revenue and the Chronicle doesn’t have to pay a dime to the people that make it happen. I for one have grown tired of the hassles my days contributing are limited Not sure if I am going to renew my subscription the the magazine.

@gumtree I’m sorry about your frustrations with the site. Most users only experience very sporadic posts that wind up triggering the spam filters. Yours was live on the site when I checked. We don’t receive notification when posts wind up in the moderation queue, so if you’re ever frustrated by the time it’s taking to get one approved, you can also feel free to send a PM.
I’m not on here all day long, so I can’t guarantee that it’ll be approved immediately, but it’ll definitely give me a prod to check through the sequestered spam posts to get yours expedited ASAP!
The site performs an autosave function while you’re composing posts (you should occasionally see a yellow autosave message flash in the lower right corner of your message composition screen). If you have trouble with the site for some reason, you should be able to return to the reply box and click “restore” from the yellow banner across the the top of the message composition field.
If you’re still having trouble with the site freezing or other issues, could you please start a new thread to describe the problems and let us know what browser and version you’re using to access the site?

GT, In the time I’ve been on CoTH, I have found many of your posts to be very helpful. I hope you will take to heart the words of our esteemed Mod1, and stay to give us more of your wisdom. I, at least, would appreciate it… It might be helpful to bear in mind, that while the machinery may be frustrating at times, your world will most likely go on as normal. This is just a web board. Take a deep breath…
