What's the deal with "unapproved" posts?

Have you tried to get a computer company to look at your problem?
They have some that work on computers all the time that may find what the glitch is, since they don’t seem to from this end?
We use the same fellow that works on our local high school and business computers.

That is utterly annoying all the way around.

No I haven’t, I wouldn’t know what to ask them, I think if I went in (Staples is the only place to get computers fixed), told them I was getting unapproved posts on a website they’d tell me to contact the web site or give me the deer in the headlights look.

COTH always fixes it right away. The moderator suggested it might be who my posts are routed thru? However, this has been going on for about a year, including two different internet services, so not sure how posting to this website would have been routed the same way. And why only this website? I’m open to suggestions?

Could you possibly start a new email and sign under a different name and see if you still have problems?

Use someone else’s computer with your original log-in and name?

Maybe they can find a fix here.
I expect it is driving them nuts also, or they would me if I was in charge of the web site working programs.

Honestly, I’m over worrying about. When I’m unapproved I email the web master and it’s fixed. Its easier than trying to reinvent myself, using someone else’s computer, etc.

Are you still accessing via VPN? I’m suspicious that’s the trigger. Spammers often use VPN to get around various spam prevention efforts, and easy to see how that’s something that would need to reset every so often, so could explain why you’re okay for awhile and then back in jail.

Would be interesting to test with a new account that never logs in over VPN.

And Staples… I’d personally never let them touch any of my computers

Yes, or Best Buy, they are helpless.

We found our computer guru by asking our high school who took care of their computers and that company works on all kinds, for Walmart and little business too and they keep any we need running.

VPN has been turned off, doesn’t have any thing to do with it. I was having issues months back when we used DSL with a different provider, had no VPN at that time, that isn’t the issue.

Has COTH tried to give you a whole new ID, new name, etc. and are you then still having trouble, just in case your basic information was corrupted in the changes?

No, they did go into my profile and look but that was it

The few times I had the “unapproved” issue, I had a short post, but several links. I redid the post with only the words, and then posted it. Then I went back and edited the post, and added the links back, and usually put more explanation about each one. I’m sure the short post with several links looked like a spammer.

This has nothing to do with links, almost all of the posts had no links, no pictures etc. This has been going on for a long while, it happens every few weeks or less.

I had an unapproved post, but with several links to blogs and books per the OPs request. Don’t know if it has anything to do with my being in Japan this year, but I’ve already made several posts. Just started doing it about 10 minutes ago.

ETA: this one posted so I guess it’s the links.

I use the Malaseb shampoo (recommended by my vet) once or twice a week on our seasonally itchy sheltie. Chewy carries it.

Guessing you meant to post this somewhere else?

Back to unapproved. Had a good run of being approved but as usual once the spam starts showing up and getting cleaned out I’m unapproved. Good thing I don’t post much as I used to, this unapproved business has weaned me off COTH somewhat.

Worked! Once again was unapproved.

My question, obviously they can fix it when I’m unapproved, why can’t it be fixed permanently? This is beyond old, been going on for a year+ now.

I wonder if they are as annoyed as you are?

Must feel like a professional failure not to be able to fix that permanently after all this time.

I’m sure they are. They must dread seeing my email, though I’m polite, just tired of it.
