I worked for an online gaming company that was text-based RPG. One of the characters I used had a back history that tied into “rising from the ashes” as in a Phoenix. Her last name was also Flameborne.
I’ve kept it since it is somewhat apropos to an over-haul of my own life not so very long ago.
Tzegdi - my mother’s nickname her African nannies gave her when she was young (she’s now 60 and I am and adult!). Mum was standing in my office when I joined and she saw me straining to think of a goodie, and just blurted it out. It actually has no meaning to me!
Its my mum’s fault, she couldn’t think of anything more original, so named me after my grandfather! But I had to put a 1 after it because the forum wouldn’t let me use just Thomas - seemed that had already been taken
My son Thomas, who is known exclusively as the very simple “Tom,” is also named after his grandfather Thomas. In today’s world full of Brock’s, and Jaden’s and Sawyer’s and Cooper’s and Declan’s and Spencer’s and assorted other oddites, I personally think the name “Thomas” has become original again.
Well my horse’s registered name is It’s Mr. Winston Sir, and I found it kind of long and odd so I changed it to Never Surrender, a line froma famous speech made by Sir Winston Chruchill in WWII.
I feel for you Thomas, I’m afraid my Mum wasn’t anymore helpful, though I could have been more creative than my name and last name initial.
I used most of my horse’s names for other things so I didn’t use it here as my user name too. If I just had more time I’m sure I could have come up with something cute, geez. Or maybe not! I sure do like these icons though.
My horse’s nickname is Pete and I’m his person. Since he’s a registered paint (breeding stock) and the APHA doesn’t allow punctuation in registered names (Pete’s registered name is Tramps Dude), I thought I’d be lazy and drop the possessive apostrophe… then I stayed lazy and dispensed with the caps and the space. I find it humorous when other posters refer to me as Pete’s Person… as I try to squash my inner editor, they let theirs loose… hee hee…
I was reading about arias on the web, and we overlook a ridge, hence “ariaridge”. I wanted something short and nice sounding. I may even name our farm that too!
mine is pretty boring. Just answering the question I hear when I bring my babies to show … my friends and trainers are always asking what are you doing with so and so here today A: Hackinaround
DocHF derives from Dr. Horsefeathers, the original title when I started on the old USDF BB around 1996.
Horsefeathers is self explanatory. Anything I say should be liberally salted. And I earned the title Dr. after too many years in university. Who knew I just had to send $22.95 to an internet diploma school to get that title?
