High waisted jeans ARE back and have been for a few years, but as far as I’ve seen really only in the skinny jean variety.

I think they are working their way back.
On the Pikeur breeches…I hate the unstretchy, fake full seats they have. Why, oh why, for that much money can’t they go back to leather?? I miss high waisted, real leather full seats.
Paula M I looked at those but they wouldn’t work for me. I have narrow hips but a big rear end. In order to fit my rear end the waist band stands off and the breeches slide down. I always end up having to pull them up to meet the crotch once I am on the horse.
I have one pair of very old hunter breeches that are high waisted and fit nicely but they flare at the thigh and look horrible. I usually wear them when no one is around.
Harry Halls used to fit perfectly but they don’t exist any more.
Try a tailor? Buy to fit your widest part, and get the waist band taken in.
I was gifted some ancient high waist breeches in GUC. They are my size, but the fit feels very weird. I wouldn’t want that back again! They manage to be too loose in the hips, and too tight in the waist, all at once.
On the other hand, I totally agree that Pikeur Luganas hit the sweet spot for people with average torso size.

You know, I never understood the desire for the low rise. If you’re a woman, you wear a low rise pant and you have a longer shirt–then it looks like you have no waist. You look like a boy. Sorry, I don’t want to look like a boy. I like the curvy look, with a waist! Yes, we lose our waist as we get older, but that’s even more reason to wear things that fall at your waist and bring attention to it. You can fake having one. :)
Sorry, when you are built like a boy like I am wearing high waisted clothes is a practice in torture. If the hips fit, the waist is inevitably a couple of inches too small, and cutting into my stomach. “Low waisted” pants often hit my natural waist and are cut straight enough to fit from the belt loops down.
I hope we can all find breeches that fit, but no need to be cruel to those built differently
I am not getting how you think it is a cruel comment. I started the thread about breeches that fit those with a high waist. In that case, low rise WITH a longer and looser shirt remove any waist I have. It makes me look like a boy. That’s my opinion, and it’s how I feel it looks.
You have a lower waist, so I’m not seeing how you even relate to what I describe. I said I like curves with a waist, because high waisted-ness pretty much creates that in women, unless we get thicker in the waist. It is a body type thing. You read something into my comment that is not there and are making this personal. We ALL have something that makes us unhappy with our bodies. I was expressing mine with the clothing frustration that hides what I like about my body.

“why do women want low rise pants? it makes you look like a boy! I don’t want to look like a boy! I want currrrrves! When you’re old, you need curves!!!”
You really are so self absorbed that you can’t see how that is hurtful to people whose bodies “look like a boy” because that’s HOW THEY’RE BUILT, not how they wear their pants?
Ain’t no high waisted pants are gonna give this straight-up-and-down ruler-built person “a waist” and nor do I care one bit.
I don’t begrudge you your high waist breeches. Clothes should be available for everyone. I begrudge you your feelings that the only clothing that should be available is clothing that meets your personal taste and demands, and everybody else should get off your thread/lawn, because they just don’t know how to dress for an attractive figure.

Hmm, synthetic seats don’t bother me, much easier and cheaper to wash than leather imo. To each his own.
another vote for montar!!
My waist is high - a long rise, I guess it the better term. Add to that womanly thighs and some junk in my trunk, and well, low ride never looks flattering.

Editing my reply to remove things to make it fit your twisted need for making it sound like a personal attack on your body type is sad. Honestly, the world is getting filled with people who apparently live only to find offense.

BTW, being flat chested I got over anyone comparing me to other women. And the current trend for uber curvy being the new media standard of sexy doesn’t fit me either. And yet, I learned to not get worked up if someone uses that standard for themselves. It’s okay. It’s not a big deal we all are unique. I was stating how it made ME (and others I know) feel when designers give us unflattering designs.
I too have been extremely frustrated with the “low-rise” trend. I don’t have a problem with manufacturers supplying breeches for short waisted folk, but I DO have a problem with manufacturers neglecting us long waisted folks.
I know that Pikeur and Equissentials and F.I.T.S. make higher waisted breeches, but they are very expensive. Dover’s Riding Sport brand used to make breeches with a more normal rise but it seems many of those are coming with plunging waist bands. Sigh. And some of the other posters had good points when they noted that even slim, straight figures with short waists can find their breeches sliding down in certain situations (especially those hip hugger things).
I just want a decent selection of affordable breeches for EVERYONE and not just for the short waisted. I’m built like a dachsund. . . . even with a higher rise, I have a lot of torso
In my barn they never went away. I wouldn’t wear anything else- completely ridiculous! Even on the slender young- they are always in the way, not supportive, falling down. Stupid fashionistas!
Equissentials https://www.equissentials.net/
And they completely customize without additional charges.
I got fed up with full seat breech options. For someone with junk in the trunk like me low rise is beyond ridiculous.
So I bit the bullet and ordered a pair of Equissentials. I described to them EXACTLY what i needed. I need a U shaped crotch otherwise camel toe. Well, got them and they were so V shaped that the crotch line was almost straight. Ok fine, I send them back along with a pair of knee patch that fit me correctly, so they can use as a guide.
I got the revised breech back last week and the fit is much better (not perfect) but ok. However the leather seat was nor fully sewn on. The stitching is missing on about 12".
I’m beyond frustrated, especially for spending so much money.
Hopefully they will rectify and pay for the shipping this time.
Wow, that would be frustrating! I guess custom orders are a risk, unless the person making them is local.
Im all for options for all body types. My chief complaint is that the go for trends that natch the fashion industry and feel they need to change every year. Personally, I prefer a certain cut and wish they would find ones that work for the sport and just change material or colors. There really is no way to make major improvements. They should just play with color and fabrics for seasons. And have stock styles that hit a certain body type, or types, so people can trust buying a brand and knowing they’ll be able to get a pair that fit time after time.
I just want to point out - I am short waisted with no hips - the “boy” figure. And I HATE the uber low rise breeches - the how-low-can-we-make-them look that has been so popular doesn’t work for me either! I don’t want my belly and butt crack hanging out. WHO likes these breeches? WHO is buying them? 16 year old hunter riders? Is that the entire market? That is my complaint, right now, “they” aren’t appealing to many adult riders, irregardless of our figure!

Equissentials https://www.equissentials.net/

The low rise is not only popular with breeches, but try to find any trousers with a normal rise. Even underwear are cut to sit below the navel.
Aside from looks, they feel funny; like your pants are falling down.
At a horse show at Mystic Valley Hunt Club a couple weeks ago, a tack shop, The Paddock, Inc had some breeches there the young girls were buying - high waisted they fit so beautifully. All of their breeches were gorgeous, but these were from Horze, and well priced, and so well made. https://thepaddockinc.com/collections/breech-full-seat/products/horze-crescendo-celine-womens-full-seat-breeches
I think high waisters will come back for sure. Women were coming into the tent asking for high waisted and buying these. At this price point, they were easy to buy one and try to see how they liked the quality. The waist and front hardware looked really nice. I didn’t try them on but watched many who did, and they all seemed to buy them.
Note: They were buying one size down.

I have 2 pairs of those from last year–a gorgeous hunter green and the chocolate and they are by far my favorites! Thanks for the link–everywhere else has been sold out!

FITS. Bought many pair of ebay lightly used.
