33, and safe and sound!
Is there a video yet?
She’s now the all-time earnings leader worldwide, just shy of US $19 million.
I was thinking, both before and after the race.
Can’t imagine the jocks… Hugh Bowman if she’d lost. All the other jocks if they’d beat her. I know that’s their job… to win the race. But winning this race… ouch. Watching the stretch run, wasn’t like any of the other jocks were making it easy on her. Yes, she won but Tommy Berry and Kluger and the others didn’t make it easy for her (as they should).
This was also Chris Waller’s 100th G1 win (of which 25% were from Winx ).
You are right. Jockeys, trainers, even owners have to race to win. That’s how it works.
Remember Marylou Whitney apologizing for her Birdstone beating Smarty Jones in the Belmont? So unnecessary to true racing fans.
I’d have a hard time being totally happy that I’d beaten Winx in her last race
I know that’s how it works but so glad it didn’t happen.
Just found an interesting article - a couple of years old - about how Winx was acquired, and the owners’, particularly Debbie Kepitis’s, racing history.

For me, it’s behind a paywall.
For me as well
Weird, was not for me. Safari on MacOS
Don’t know how to resolve it. Found it when I merely googled “Winx”.
Just assuming that she is going to be bred. Do they have a stallion in mind?
All you can say about that mare is that she did everything right.
I hope she loves her new career and produces wonderful babies.
I have gotten the feeling there are a few they are considering and not all in Australia. Don’t recall right off hand but nothing confirmed from what I have seen.
This, from March 22nd:
We’re definitely Winx fans at our house. We already have the hats and t-shirts are coming soon.
Perhaps she’ll be bred to American Pharoah?
Winx to AP, not likely IMO. Don’t think he make the stallion short list. I rather like some of the stallions that were mentioned on the short list but time will tell. They may also have one strategy for her first few offspring and then perhaps change direction based on what she produces.
I have my hat and shirt coming soon I hope
Winx to visit Australian stallion I Am Invincible for first mating later this year.
Apparently I Am Invincible is a very successful stallion in Australia. I looked him up on Equibase and it seems he never raced? Could that be true?
And zero inbreeding through the first five generations, which is rare in the US.
