10:00pm PT tonight (Friday) is post time for the Turnbull
Whoot-whoot!
Bowman and Winx are sure hard on people’s blood pressure.
She was 2nd last but on the rail during the first part of the race. I was afraid she was going to get trapped and not get a clear lane to the front. Started her run a bit later, I thought, than usual but still won by a length.
Post-race interview with Bowman sounded like he also didn’t like her being on the rail during the early part of the race but he found a lane for her and she worked for the win this time!
Cox Plate in 3 weeks!
Unclear if this Cox Plate will be her last race or not.
She looked totally stuck on the rail–I did not think she would make it through in time. She is amazing!
Jaw dropping.
Yes, she is amazing!!!
Whoa. That was a nail biter for sure. Wasn’t sure she was going to get racing room in time.
She sure seems to know where the wire is every time.
Winx will break from stall 6 in a total field of 8 for the Cox Plate G1 October 27 at Moonee Valley.
Bowman sounds happy with the slot of what was left when Winx’s position was drawn. Benbatl breaks out of 3 and Rostropovich will break from 8. An honest field.
Race will be Friday night our time (US).
Ready to watch this time!
So glad I don’t have to work this weekend, and can sleep in afterwards!
Urrgghhhh… PT 11:00 pm PDT tonight
Oh. Or 2am EST! Yikes!
But will try a cat nap and alarm…
OMG, what a mare!
Winx by 2l over Benbatl.
Bowman rode her perfectly!
4th Cox Plate!
29 wins in a row! 22 Grade 1s!
She’s amazing!!!
She made it look easy! Was closer up early, so less of a heart-stopper this time.
In reading post race coverage sounded like Bowman may have kept her a bit closer than usual because of Benbatl and his racing style.
I think Bowman also rode her a bit more strategically this time in terms of placing her where she wouldn’t have a chance to get boxed in like her last race.
Watching Waller’s (trainer) interview after the race was pretty moving. He got all choked up talking about what a horse she really is.
Bowman also sounded like he had nerves in the days leading up to the race. I’d be nervous too as if she didn’t win, he’d more than likely be the prime scapegoat. Sounded like by the day of the race he was settled down.

Great coverage–the crowd, interviews, and, of course, the Wonder from Down Under
Thanks for the video, MTHBWM. Here’s another interesting article about her owner, Debbie Kepitis (one of 3 owners).

Thanks for the link to the race and interviews. Poor trainer was so verklempt. No one wants to cry like a baby on T.V. :DHe really struggled to keep it together.
What a mare!
Winx will be back in 2019!
No overseas trips. Unclear what her plans might be past the Queen Elizabeth Stakes in April. First start of the year is tentatively in February at the 16 Star Apollo Stakes.

What I’d give for a trip Down Under in early '19. :tickled_pink:
Winx is still on tap for the Apollo on Feb 16 (evening of Feb 15 for those of us in the States) :encouragement:
TVG hasn’t posted a time yet (they usually don’t until usually the day of the race). They’ll be covering it live.
Been too lazy to look for post time and do the time conversion When I see it on TVG, I’ll post it here.
The Star Apollo Stakes (G2), Race 6 at Randwick tomorrow night…
