Woman Shot at Barisone Farm

LOL, I think I had somehow gleaned that kind of relationship, but you’re all correct, very offhand! Haleybot, I empathize. thanks for your insights.

My impression about this situation is that they were trying to get low cost boarding with high expectation. Not a reflection on the barn, but a reflection on them. Big surprise…no.

When someone starts an almost certainly false, vindictive, public “review” with a crystal clear racist comment (alert! I’m talking about non-Caucasians here!), I say pick all the nits you want.

Here’s the thing: LK has lived her life very purposefully putting everything out there in public - the more public, the bigger the audience, the better. She has said absolutely vile things about real people. She has made actual threats. She has told lies bigger than the states of NJ, NC, and FL combined. She has made false reports about people to the police, SS, and even government agencies. What she was doing in that post quoted above was trying to ruin the reputation of that barn/barn manager. Note a pattern here?

I’m 100% not here for any hand wringing about anyone taking a look at that rich cannon of online manure she has produced. Esp now that she’s on here, on facebook, on instagram, etc. attacking, threatening, and smearing people (and I don’t mean MB). She obviously loves living life on SM unless and until she suddenly doesn’t control the narrative. Sadly, it doesn’t work that way.

Again, weird for someone that is so “well off” or of “Unlimited means”

If your horses are important to you, then you pay for the best possible care you can afford. At least, that’s how I operate.

Maybe the barn really does suck, I’m not going to argue that because I don’t know, but I wouldn’t throw their nationality into the review. Based off of the review, it sounds like one could spot that this would be a poor place to board if one has a good experienced eye. But again, if you’re trying to be cheap or can’t afford more, then I guess you board there regardless.

See, this is falling into the trap of believing a reasonable amount of what she says has a relation to fact. We don’t know she actually has money. We don’t know that any of this actually happened at this barn.

Just like we don’t know how many bullets went into her, we don’t know where in the porch or bushes she was sitting or standing when she got shot, we don’t know how fast she is recovering and we have no idea where she was living or is now.

It’s all just made up on the spot and made to fit her mood at the time.

I wouldn’t believe anything she says about any other barn any more than I believe her rubbish that has been documented on here about other people. “Maybe the barn does suck” is getting sucked into thinking what she says has to have a grain of truth.

No it doesn’t. She just makes stuff up and says what she thinks will hurt the most at the moment.

I’ve known people like that IRL. They will stew and then make stuff up and if you don’t know the people they are talking about you tend to believe it must have some element of truth. When it’s closer to home you realize it is completely invented.

Yes, I know people like this too. I guess I should have said “maybe it does suck, maybe it doesn’t suck, I don’t know” but my main point is the “I don’t know” part, because I don’t. As you mentioned we don’t know a lot due to her being an unreliable narrator and saying what suits the mood at the time.

As I said, I know people like this, and some just seem to really think that others are gullible, dumb, ignorant, or they are that good, I don’t know. I’ve had a fellow boarder like this. It’s just odd and I could not understand her need to fabricate so much, but some/most of us saw through it and just ignored it.

Your mistake was guessing/assuming that I was suggesting “all” colics go to a clinic, while Ms. K quote in her review in fact did suggest that all colics must not be moved.

I wasn’t guessing at anything. I read her “must not be moved” comment in the context of the post. The horse moved stalls.

I just did what you did. Took your comment out of context.

Ugh. You two. borrrrrrrring.

Yup I agree.

My sense of people like this is they are ruled by their emotions and their emotions tend to be inappropriate to the situation. Sort of the definition of personality disorder. So if they have negative feelings about someone, they react like that person has caused them deliberately and then every horrible thing they can say about that person is “true” to them at the moment because it is how they feel.

Oh, that link on narcissists said it better than me !

Many people exaggerate when they are angry but very few completely invent things and lie this loudly when it is so easy for them to be proven wtong. So our natural response is to assume some kernel of truth when evaluating what angry people say, and try to figure out what the truth or misunderstanding is.

When we run up against someone like LK it’s really hard to wrap our heads around the fact that she says things that are not at all based on reality.

I am assuming she kept her horses at this barn. Even that may not be true of course! But given what we’ve seen and heard on this thread, it’s quite possible that she did a midnight flit owing money for board and just posted a completely false review out of spite. Or who knows, never boarded her horses there at all but hates someone who does. Hence why her complaints are just a wierd mishmash of newbie complaints, because she is just grabbing at random the kinds of things you read on a horse forum.

Just FYI. From original post. “Anyway, I found this review her bf posted on the barn they were at before coming to MB.”
Looks like this person said the boyfriend posted it, not LK.

Well we know who wrote it. Having multiple or other people post fake reviews either positive or negative is standard practice when you are trying to affect someone’s online profile.

So then, I was right when I said that some were obviously involved with LK somehow… and it was not just “discussion” and “investigation” by interested outsiders (that ties back to my “feigned innocence” comment). It was very obvious to many of us - why not be up front about it?

Yes, the bf posted the review. Seems she holds the balance of power ($) in the relationship, and from previous posts on this thread it would appear that he toes her line.

Would YOU want to be the object of LK’s wrath after all the examples given on this thread?? Have you read the scathing posts on FB written against someone who only asked her to calm down, stop ranting, and heal? Why would anyone want to subject themselves to her type of harassment and hate? There is no “feigned innocence”, simply people providing an insight to this women’s behavior while protecting their identity and stress levels.

One can avoid being the object of her wrath by not engaging on social media and blocking her through all avenues. If I had been the recipient of her harassment I would not participate in a thread about her.

That would be your choice @Denali6298. Others felt it quite important to spread the word about this woman, some more passionately and repeatedly than others on this thread, hoping to alert others to her behavior. I’m sure MB and MH wish they had listened to those who warned them (if in fact they were warned) and kept this woman at arm’s length two years ago!

It is. Just as people choose to engage. I’m just saying not all of us would choose to engage.

I am glad LK paid for full tack up services so that way she couldn’t automatically choose me off the saddle rack.

One person seeking to engage with LK is Sarah Maslin Nir. She has messaged LK via LK’s Insta account. Nir has outstanding reporting and horse scene credibility. I look forward to reading her perspective on the incident.

@Scribbler, your observations are so spot on. I boarded with one who took it all personally, and who turned everything towards herself. For ex., John Lyons was out to get her and was the devil incarnate because she saw a Christian symbol on one of his advertisements in Practical Horseman. Therefore, Pat Pepperoni (in her view his opposite) walked on water and could do no wrong. She never did a PP clinic, or bought a carrot stick, just promoted him in her mind.

When boarders would bring in their trainers for a private lesson or a clinic, she would always interject herself and make some training suggestions that basically translated into something like, “Dolphins have carried spearguns since 1945.” If the barn manager made a comment to her, she’d scream obscenities at him. When not spiraling, she’d talk non-stop and hover over you.

She’s now in her '70’s and tweets like a teen while driving and has started some really dumb road rage incidents. I truly think she is going to get shot one of these days when she flips off the wrong person.
