otherwise -
I bet he could get a shetland pony around that course
Did they televise his ride, or is only on the streaming feed? I need to know if I should run to my DVR or my laptop when I arrive home from work!
dummy here had the wrong finisher, Mark and Campino had a .4 time fault. Agreed on the shetland pony, this guy is one amazing competitor!

I watched the ride on NBCSN but kept up with the rides through this thread and the Horse & Hound blog. Can anybody else help Mali out with info on feeds that will show the replays? Hopefully without the idiot Melanie S-T’s comments?

Yeah, more than a few horses looked pretty pooped. But I think several riders and horses got used when other horses came up unsound. So I bet that has a lot to do with it.

What a spectacular course! Absolutely lovely. Really enjoyed them riding through the stadium, what a blast. The coverage online was also terrific, some really great camera work and excellent commentary.

I almost gave myself away several times at work, with gasping when my favorites had trouble and wanting to cheer when others crossed the finish line!

The stadium jumping is going to be heart-stopping!

One fence between the top 6 riders!!!
Two rails separate the top 12!!!
Should be a cracker tomorrow.

Germany’s to lose in for the Gold. Three way race between Brits, Swedes and Kiwis for other two medals.
Hard to see the US getting into a medal at this point, but you never know.

Looking forward to tomorrow!!!

Oops. They left Aus off the first list.

1st Germany 124.7
2nd Great Britain 130.2
3rd Sweden 131.4
4th New Zealand 133.4
5th USA 155.2
6th Australia 173.4
7th Ireland 178.8

I think more than the air vest issue, it wasn’t going to happen because that horse was not willing to stand there as patiently as Karen’s horse!
It looked like she could have held on until her horse decided not to cooperate.

I loved the comment after her air vest inflated: “her life vest is inflated which is a good thing since she is in the water”!:lol:

How did Stefano do with Apollo (Italian pair in 2nd after dressage)? That horse is stunning!!

Thanks for babysitting me guys! I really do appreciate it! Now at least I can concentrate the rest of the day

That was fun!
Such genuine horses and such great riders.

And it’s all over for now! I stand corrected: I thought the US had fallen to much further down than 5th place. That does not leave us in as bad a position as I thought, there is hopefully (I’m not that familiar with event scoring, alas) still room for us still to medal as a team?

Lionheart was raring to go at the beginning of the course, and definitely tiring at the end, with those time penalties. Guess WFP had a difficult time rating him. Todd’s horse also looked pretty pooped at the end, but I didn’t think he looked all that peppy at the beginning, either. Glad they made it 'round safely.

What a shame about the Japanese fellow falling off at the drop… that is just heart-breaking (I tuned back in this last time right when that happened). His dressage was so lovely!

Back to work… ugh. I imagine I’ll be doing the same routine tomorrow morning!

Did the weather in England coming up to the Olympics have an effect on people’s conditioning schedules?

Great, the showjumping is even EARLIER tomorrow!

That means I need to be up at 2am to watch it live…and I’m invested in the outcome too much to sleep through it.

BBC coverage (w/ expat shield)was great though- I sat and watched all of cross country start to finish and it only dropped the signal twice.

I admire these riders soooo much - watching this makes me feel like the biggest wuss on the planet when I worry about crossing deadfall on a gaited pony. In a western saddle.

Just an amazing display of horsemanship.

Wooohooo! Clear! But what, didn’t they show the round? Bummer. I hope the DVD has everyone’s rounds.

I feel guilty… but it was worth it. That was pretty fun. Now we wait to see the situation with the 2 (I think?)who got to take ambulance rides.

Gotta cheer for the Swedes!

Jumped clear but had 10 or so time penalties, pushing him back into 11th or 12th place or so.

Individual standings? Ingrid still on top?

Going to take a lot of rails, from at least two teams, or a couple of falls for the US to get a medal.

They had a nice trip. That horse is just outstanding. Fabulous jump and very catty. Finished with some time.

Thanks for all the commentary. I couldn’t watch the feed at work, so flicked from the NBC static site and your commentaries. You had Melanie beat!

As for the Germans having the wrap on the gold – how soon we forget Athens!

I am rooting for Ingrid. Does anyone remember her popping out of the tack in Athens? She hopped back on and still made the time.
