The chrome definitely came from his sire, Sway Away. He’s by a Speightstown mare who has Broad Brush and Deputy Minister on bottom. He’s got two full older siblings it seems, one unraced and one had limited success as a claimer.
Whatever genetic thing causes flaxen hasn’t yet been identified by science, so that was just luck of the draw I guess! His dam is red, but just the generic variety. From the limited reading I have done, Speightstown is known for producing excellent temperaments and so far I think he inherited that as well.
