I do not need puppies. I do not even want puppies because I know I do not need puppies, I already have an old dog who is on his last legs and the first ‘ditch dog’ I naively picked up and then could not find any home for (who turned out to be a really good dog, thankfully). There is no animal control and no pound to take these animals to, which is why they end up dumped. I just didn’t know what else to do, but EFF am I going to be in trouble.
If someone could tell the universe that I have NO MORE ROOM, I’d appreciate it!
For reasons I don’t have time to describe, the two adult dogs I already have cannot live together. So I already have to deal with rotating them around the house… adding two puppies that currently adopted my barn as their home to the mix = ZOO.
In all seriousness…can we have Chewy deliver some crates? Collars, toys, dog food? I am sure the community here will pitch in. (Unfortunately the inn HERE is full, with additional ditch dogs popping up every day)
None of my found dogs over the years ever was as good looking as those pups . Least the universe is sending you good looking cast offs
Maybe somebody might be looking for those two pups? They appear well cared for as opposed to the scraggly, wormy, so ugly they are cute walking vet bills that I was “gifted” with.
I posted them on the local groups and someone thinks they might know who they belong to. Fingers crossed it turns out to be true… for now I’ve borrowed a large crate from my neighbor, which is where they will stay for tonight’s rain/thunder. If their stay is extended, I will certainly let COTH know
They weren’t out there long for sure. I can’t quite put my finger on it but they remind me of Doberman or GSD crosses I’ve seen, just a bit smaller. They do have fleas, and some sort of dermatitis starting up (probably from the fleas…), but otherwise they are in decent weight and bright eyed. Even still have a hint of puppy smell.
In horse-related news, I spoke on the phone with one of the co-owners from his racing days. She was VERY kind, completely shocked to hear that he’d been sold at all, and disappointed at the circumstances in which I found him. Apparently she only saw the horse a few times and was in a hands-off, mostly silent part owner role. She was told that the trainer/other co-owner was going to keep him and train him as a barrel horse once he turned 3, and last she knew he was still at their farm. She asked if I could update her on how he’s doing in the future. So, no answers there - and the other co-owner hasn’t responded to my message so far.
I have a ditch dog. I picked her up on the road to the foxhound kennels and showed her to one of the neighbors driving bye, to ask if she looked familiar. He said “nah, she’s one of them drop dogs.” Of course, she stayed with me and was given the name Dew Drop. I was going to adopt one of the retired foxhounds however, my conformationally challenged, but incredibly sweet drop dog fills up the couch.
Love them! My last 3 dogs have all been Florida ditch dogs. I call them Brindle Snappers lol because upon capture they were very barky. Bless you. And brindle.
I got some info about where the pups belong, so I guess I’m going down there to see if they want them back tomorrow. If not… the nice people who pointed me in the right direction want to take them.
Things always seem to work out OK in the end, don’t they…
One good turn invites another, I think - and you’ve done your share of good turns for all creatures great and small, so it seems about right that some make it your way, too.
