- Visonalre–what can you say about Michael Matz? He needs this after yesterday.
Oh oh, Dutrow just announced he’s not gonna drop that $200,000 bet on Big Brown he claimed he was going to do.

Late to the party, but I just poured some bourbon and thought I’d tune in to COH while we watched the Derby. Good luck everyone! (and may God bless all the horses and riders with safe trips).

Although i loved Loved LOVED the story of the trainer in his 70s, with his string of 6 at Calder, who is running a Derby horse for the first time (Smooth Air).
His obvious quiet joy at making to the Derby is wonderful.

Wait: are people entering sentimental or wishful bets also? Like yes, I’d certainly love to see the filly win, but I’d also buy a sentimental ticket for Cool Coal Man, since I’m a coalcracker. (just the way Dreaming of Anna has won me some money - Anna being the name of my grandmother and also my mother, who died when I was still in school).

OMG, the filly is down!
Oh, no, I was just coming over to post congrats to all who had Eight Belles who looked so wonderful and finished second, then after the race was over she dropped.
Way to go, Big Brown! But poor Eight Belles got injured. Poor girl. I was rooting for her, too!! I hope she’s not hurt too seriously, but she’s down. 
Dr. Larry Bramlage: Broke both front ankles and was euthanized on the track.

That was pretty impressive. If he wins the TC there’ll be no shutting up UPS! (One of the reporters said he was indeed named Big Brown as in UPS).
