You're So Vain, Part II

BRAVO!!
I am posting this at the stable!!!

OK, just one more. And then Ill stop. No problem. I can control this. I am in charge.

This one will date me (and all those who remember it), especially if you are NOT remembering the Donna Summer version, and instead can hear Richard Harris’ voice singing (Note to younguns the lyrics make no sense, but I promise you, mine make more sense than the original ) okay, back to singing that immortal phrase: “someone left the cake out in the rain…”

Wellington Park

WEF was never waiting for us, girl
It ran one jump ahead
As we followed like a pair of leeches
Between the show program and all the rest
This shows got us in its fevered grip
Like a too tight pair of TS breeches

[CHORUS]
My sweet Butet is melting in the dark
The secret formula is flowing down
Someone left my Butet out in the rain
And I don’t think that I can take
'Cause it took so long to make it
And I’ll never have that much loot again
Oh No

I recall the new Clothes Horse dress sheet
Foaming like a wave
Across my horse, almost to his knees
Hiding my Butet, like carrots in your hands
And the trainers on their cell phones by the trees

[CHORUS]
sappy musical interlude

There will be another class for me
For I will show it
There will be another Butet for me
Someone will bring it
I will paint the oil while it is warm
And never let you catch me looking at Hermes
And after all the rides in my life
After all the rides in my life
Butet will still be for me

I will put the saddle on my horse, and I will use it
I will win the class in their eyes and then I will lose it
And I will have all the ribbons I desire
And the jumps will flow like rivers in the tent aisles
And after all the saddles in my life
Ill be thinking of that one
And wondering why

extended up-tempo instrumental that rivals anything Chicago ever did or even “Classical Gas” by Mason Williams

[CHORUS]

I love it!!!

Bravo Dogchushu!!! See, those of us in jobs requiring math skills (I myself am a civil engineer!) need a release for our creative energy!!!

Thank you all for the compliments! Portia, it’s addictive, writing these parodies, isn’t it? But oh so much fun!

You know Heidi - I think that idea may have merit - loved your (?) line about anticipation is making me chip on the other thread.

Now I guess we will have to see how cooperative a certain mp3 trading software program is so I can get the song and lyrics…

Thank you, thank you, thank you to whoever bumped this thread. Last night I truly understood ROTFLMAO while reading the bumped Sea Urchin wedding thread. Tonight after reading the fabulous parodies, I feel very lucky to be in the same cyberspace with such gifted folks. This BB and its members are truly a blessing!

It was I who bumped up the thread, and you are welcome!!! This thread is so funny! Plus, of course, I’m proud of the hours I spent writing some of the parodies, so I felt the need to bump it up!

I am very impressed…and inspired too:

Here’s one for all of the Horse Show Mom’s (to Carole King’s “Tapestry”)

( Hope it’s not too corny for ya’ll! )

[B]My life has been a tapestry of driving to and from
The barn, the shows, the tack shop
It’s a never changing view
A wondrous world I’ve learned of
With bits and boots and gloves
A tapestry where girls reign free
Their horses are their love

Once amid the dark, dusty aisles of the barn
There came another new horse, and this one, it was for sale
She had no ribbons to her name
And she needed work to start
But her face was sweet, her soul was good,
And she won my daughter’s heart

I moved with some uncertainty as if I didn’t know
Whether we should buy her
Or should we let her go
Finally, the answer came, the horse we had to buy
And my child was so happy

Soon within my tapestry along the horse show trail
I sat and watched my “girls” go round
Trying even if they fail
A missed lead change, a spooky trip,
Make it hard to be top gun
But they are a team, they work real hard
And they have a lot of fun

As I watch them at the barn, it’s suddenly all clear
The ribbons never mattered, it’s the bond that is so dear
A love between a girl and horse, it’s the greatest gift I know
So I’ll cheer them on, driving near and far, and I’ll never let them go… I’ll never let them go…[/B]

You guys!!! Too funny!!! As I sit here wiping the tears of laughter from my eyes…I’m in awe of your prose-prowess…Especially after my less-than-stellar performance in my lesson today. Thanks, I needed it! I printed the “per fect 8” for my trainer, she’s always telling me “it’s only 8 little fences, what is so hard?”

Thank you Portia! I must, of course, thank you, DMK, HSM, and VTRider for being my inspiration! All the parodies are excellent!

Here is the origninal thread:

You’re So Vain Part I

Ok, now we need some new material folks - any ideas?

Thought I would bump it up for some of the newbies to read

I Still Haven’t Found What I’m Looking For

I Have Watched Endless Tapes
I Have Surfed Through The Sites
Only To Find a Horse
Only To Find a Horse

I Have Run I Have Bawled
I’ve Seen Paints 15.6 Tall
Only To Find a Horse
But I Still Haven’t Found
What I’m Looking For
But I Still Haven’t Found
What I’m Looking For

I Have Kissed Grassy Lips
Felt the Ice on my Fingertips
It Burned Like Fire
Is that a Shire

I Have Seen Purported Angels
I Have Held the Reins Of A Devil
We’re Getting Warmer I Might Bite
See the Bank About a Loan
But I Still Haven’t Found
What I’m Looking For
But I Still Haven’t Found
What I’m Looking For

I Believe In a Well-built Bum
But your Mule Doesn’t Have One
Good the Car is Still Running
You Sold the Bonds
Hoped for Gains
You Carried The Crop
Oh no he’s lame
Oh no he’s lame
You Know I can’t believe It
But I Still Haven’t Found
What I’m Looking For
But I Still Haven’t Found
What I’m Looking For

WAY UP! Excellent parody! Good usage of original words, perfect scan. MORE MORE MORE!

I was going through some files and found this parody that I wrote a while back, yet never posted. It’s to the music of “I Will Survive” by Gloria Gaynor.

At first I was afraid, I was off the track
Kept thinking I could never jump without you on my back
But then I lunged so many times thinking how you ought to quit
And I got fit
And I learned how to fight that bit
And now you’re back
From some big show
I got tacked up to find you here wearing a big show bow
I should have tried to buck you off
I should have dumped you in the dirt
If I’d have known for just one second that you’d make my poor back hurt

(Chorus)
Oh now go
Walk out the barn
Just turn around now
Cause you can’t ride me worth a darn
Weren’t you the one who tried to drug me with that ace
Did you think I’d be quiet
Did you think I’d slow down my pace
Oh no not I
I will be high
Even though I know the jump is small I know I’ll try to fly
I’ve got all my life to live
And I’ve got all my stride to give
I will be high, I will be high

It took all the strength I had not stop at the fence
Just trying hard to show the trainer that you had no sense
and I spend oh so many shows feeling proud of my new self
I used to shy
And now I pull my knees up high
and you see me
with someone new
I’m not that green broke little horse still afraid of you
and so you felt like dropping in and just expect me to be free
But now I’m saving all my talent for someone who’s good as me

Chorus
