Is this the same one with the lady who was about to be homeless with her horses et al, and someone put her up and she moved several states to stay there - in exchange for some work I think? But once she got there she did nothing but complain (on here) about how horrible it was? I think the house was in the middle of a remodel or some work being done, and it was winter, and all she did was complain and say the water was bad and her horses were colicing because of it? Those are the only details I remember, but I remember the person who put her up FINALLY came on the page to explain all the things that there were happening?

No, this was someone alone that was moving somewhere else.

are you sure that was not on Ultimate Dressage BB? … I seem to remember such a thing happening there.

100 percent certain, as I never had a membership on that board or read it

@clanter and @TheJenners are you all talking about this thread? Dehydration/minor colic JINGLES needed and DESPERATE TO MOVE! They're here! pg 26

I remember this one going wild. I also remember the username being similar to Clanter’s and this fits the bill.

I remember these videos, probably from when I started on these forums. Still hysterical!! So glad someone had the sense to preserve them for posterity.

Watching the shin splint one, I don’t remember wondering if the vids were a parody…but now I am wondering, is this a parody? wow.

Yeeeeeep those are the ones! Was there ever a resolution?

Wow, are some of the names in those threads a blast from the past!

It took me a minute to find them because I couldn’t remember OP’s name. I could only remember that the OP had been banned by this point. I’m not sure if there was anything else after the first one I linked.

I really like the incy-wincy-spider method of measuring, that’s one of my favs
She seems like a nice enough person so I do feel a bit bad but on the other hand she did put herself out there as an expert.

I did keep a few more:

How to clean a horse’s hoof

Clipping whiskers

Clipping eyelashes

Stopping a galloping horse

Bridling a horse

Another bridling a horse

Comparing bits

Hackamores

And the ones I posted earlier, so they’re all in the one post

Cantering a jump

Measuring a horse

Shin splint boots

leesa1, you have done this nation a great service. I salute you.
:medal_military:

Some of these I have never seen before. Amazing.

One thing I can say is that Rowdy is a very kind soul. cute to boot.

It makes me wonder if there is some part of my life where I do things that are the equivalent of putting on shin splints backwards and inside out, and am unaware.

Probably when I drive (my car).

None of the links in this thread open the actual threads, they just redirect me to the main forum page. Even if I copy/paste. (sorry if this has been asked and answered, I scanned through the last few days’ posts but didn’t see anything)

ETA: nevermind, I did another scan through and found an answer

thank you for posting. These were… interesting. yikes.

The OTTB saving owner from a cattle stampede was a great read…even had us begging for updates…too bad it was just really well written fiction

There was one 2-3 years ago. Horse issue, don’t remember, but when posters started to question her treatment, she claimed to be a vet and got very indignant at being questioned, repeatedly stating she was a vet… You could tell she was A: not a vet B: pretty young. Fortunately or unfortunately, the user name she was using was actually that of her mother, a real vet. One of the posters contacted mom’s office and told her that her daughter (13 maybe) was posting as her on COTH and put the kibosh on that.

@leesa1 you are my new favourite person…having a good giggle here

Ol’ Rowdy is an absolute saint! I had no idea that all horses know what the word “bit” means. and jerking the bridle from side to side is the way to check for fit, and clanking the bit against his teeth is a sure way to get him to open his mouth. If I thought bunny hopping over a jump was what you wanted your horse to look like, I would be laughed out of the ring. I think the only one missing is the “How I feed Rowdy his grain” video with her scooping out half a coffee can of sweet feed. Very scientific and informative.

Wasn’t there one from someone else who was showing how to put on a blanket and kept calling the surcingles, surgicals?

I remember that one! She was showing how to feed horses “oats” but what she scooped out in the tin was corn.

A new fresh candidate. It’s not nearly as vicious as some of the older, longer ones already referenced. But it’s getting there, thanks to being nicely goosed along over the cliff.

Plus the topic goes well up there on the list of damn silly thread topics that eventually plunged hard & far down into the ravine.
